    What is ClipStile

HSS Training has partnered with SpanSet to create the ClipStile Ladder Safety System an innovative personal fall protection kit designed to provide maximum security when working at height on temporary ladders. By combining our expertise in height safety with SpanSet's specialised knowledge in fall protection, we've developed a system that helps protect workers from the dangers of falls, which are responsible for over 30% of workplace fatalities (HSE). Ladder safety is an essential part of ensuring safety on the job, and ClipStile is here to provide a dependable, easy-to-use solution for those working at height.

Whether you're performing maintenance, installation, or inspections, temporary ladders offer convenience but also pose significant risks. ClipStile helps reduce these dangers by working in partnership with proper Ladder Safety Training, therefore enhancing ladder stability, improving worker positioning, and ensuring safe material handling, helping you stay compliant and protected on every job.

    Why Choose ClipStile?

At HSS Training, we understand that safety is the number one priority when working at height. That's why we recommend ClipStile Ladder Safety Systems, the new innovative solution for secure temporary ladder work. Developed in collaboration with SpanSets, experts in height safety, ClipStile is a modern personal fall protection kit designed for short-duration tasks on temporary ladders. With ClipStile you can work confidently knowing you're secure.

ClipStile stabilises your ladder before you climb, ensuring it's firmly anchored with a ladder stability strap that prevents over-tensioning and ladder damage. This ensures a safe starting point for any climb. The system is built to help you maintain three points of contact while climbing, a vital rule for ladder safety. With ClipStile, you’re never alone in your climb; when in position, you'll have four points of contact, including two attachment points at waist level and your feet, for ultimate stability and security while working.

At HSS Training, we also prioritise safe material handling. ClipStile’s lifting system allows you to haul tools and materials safely before climbing so you can avoid the dangers of carrying equipment while scaling a ladder. This prevents distractions, keeps your hands available for climbing, and ensures your path is clear of hazards. Additionally, ClipStile’s design ensures you stay within the ladder's safe working area, preventing overreaching and providing you with an uncluttered, safer working environment.

ClipStile helps give you confidence while working at height. Unlike traditional fall arrest systems, which only react after a fall, ClipStile is designed to prevent falls in the first place. With dual work positioning points, it keeps you stable and comfortable, distributing forces to the ladder’s stiles, which is its strongest part for maximum security. The simple climb-and-clip system makes it easy to use, improving both safety and efficiency.

ClipStile is suitable for a variety of ladders, single, double, or triple extensions, and comes with everything you need for safe work at height, including a ladder stability strap, a tool bag, and a hauling system. You can choose from 2 kits, and whether you choose the basic kit with a waistbelt for less restrictive working or the premium kit that includes a full-body harness, you can rest assured that ClipStile provides a complete, safe solution.

    ClipStile FAQ's

    Ladder Stability Strap

The ClipStile Ladder Stability Strap ensures your ladder is securely anchored before you begin climbing, providing crucial stability. It’s designed to prevent over-tensioning, protecting the ladder from damage while guaranteeing a firm and safe setup for your work.

    ClipStile Ladder Choker & Waistbelt

ClipStile Ladder Choker and waistbelt, this system stabilises the ladder before climbing, ensuring four points of contact for unmatched security. The Ladder Choker is quickly installed at ground level, firmly anchoring the ladder, while the waistbelt provides dual work positioning points for enhanced stability, allowing workers to maintain proper balance and avoid overreaching.

Rated Tool Bag & Hauling System

ClipStile comes with an innovative hauling system to lift and lower tools and materials, allowing workers to focus on climbing safely.

    About the ClipStile Kit

    • Versatile Compatibility- The ClipStile system is designed for use with single, double, or triple-extension ladders, ensuring adaptability across various work environments.

    • Dual-Purpose Rated Tool Bag- Not only does the rated tool bag facilitate the safe lifting and lowering of tools and materials, but it also serves as a protective storage bag for the ClipStile Kit, keeping all components organised and secure when not in use.

    • Flexible Kit Options-

      • Basic Kit- Requires only a waistbelt, providing essential fall protection while allowing for less restrictive movement ideal for tasks that demand greater flexibility.

      • Premium Kit- Includes a full-body harness with an integrated waistbelt, offering enhanced safety for those working at height in various environments, including MEWPs (Mobile Elevating Work Platforms).

    • Tool Lanyard Compatibility- The waistbelt is designed to accommodate tool lanyards, preventing dropped objects and ensuring a safer workspace.

    • User-Friendly Setup- Every ClipStile Kit comes with pictorial instructions, providing clear, step-by-step guidance for quick and easy installation, helping workers stay compliant and safe with minimal training.

Step 1 - Extend the Ladder & Install the Lanyard

Begin by extending the ladder by one rung. Install the Ladder Choker Lanyard around the stiles to stabilise the ladder before raising.

Step 2 - Raise the Ladder into Working Position

Lift the ladder into its working position, ensuring that the rigid lanyards remain accessible for easy attachment when you climb.

Step 3 - Secure the Waistbelt & Achieve a Secure Working Position

Once in position, attach the hooks to each side of your waistbelt. This provides a secure working position, allowing you to work confidently and safely with both hands.
