    The aim of this two-day course is to provide delegates with the necessary skills and training for the safe and compliant installation of various fire door sets to the required standards.

    This course provides delegates with safe, hands-on training in fire door installation, which upon successful completion of both theoretical and practical assessments, delegates will be able to demonstrate their competency in these tasks.

    On the first day of the course, learning takes place in a classroom setting, with a mixture of theory and practical, through trainer explanations, group discussions, videos and practical classroom exercises.

    The second day is entirely practical, requiring delegates to bring all necessary PPE stipulated in the Pre-Requisites, to enable them to participate in the practical exercises and installations.

    The training content to be covered:

    • Planning – This will outline the current regulatory standards that must be met. Mapping out use, type, ratings of fire doors, to accurately assess the correct product to be used.
    • Understanding – On-site working methods in accordance with HSE guidance on working with fire doors.
    • Pre-installation Phase – A comprehensive breakdown of a manufacturer’s installation guide, incorporating the relevant British Standards referenced in the installation guide, along with the associated testing data.
    • Installation – Highlighting the necessity of adhering to the provided installation data and making any required modifications, including those to the structural openings.
    • Practical – Carry out a physical FD30 door installation, including any necessary alterations.
    • Inspection – Inspect and snag all doors, then carry out any necessary remedial work identified.
    • Evidencing Works – Enabling the recording of all work performed and ensuring compliance with legal requirements, including the golden thread principle, using an appropriate sample platform.

    This course is aimed at delegates who are responsible for fire safety compliance within buildings, such as Fire Door Technicians, Facilities Maintenance Engineers, Fire Responsible Persons, Facilities Managers, or those with a CSCS skilled joinery card (or other relevant/equivalent experience).
