    This 2-day top up course revisits key units and practical skills with the aim to help delegates stay up to date with current standards. Topics include physical intervention, equipment use, and awareness of security and terror threats relevant to licensed premises.

    • Principles of Terror Threat Awareness - staying up to date with current guidance for frontline security roles 
    • Principles of Using Equipment as a Door Supervisor - reviewing safe use of tools and equipment commonly used in security operations

    This course is intended for anyone renewing their Level 2 Door Supervisor licence for work in licensed premises.  Delegates should have completed their level 2 Door Supervisor course within the last 3 years and hold a current valid SIA licence. 

    Pre-course requirements

    Delegates should also:
    • Hold a Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work certificate 
    • Have completed ACT Awareness and ACT Security e-learning courses and received their certificates 
    • Be physically able to participate in practical exercises

    Q2. What is the Door Supervisor top-up course? 
    The Level 2 Door Supervisor top-up course is a mandatory refresher qualification required by the SIA for existing licence holders. It aims to update essential knowledge, practical skills, and safety awareness to support continued work as a licensed door supervisor in the private security industry.

    Who Should Attend 

    Q6. Who is this course for? 
    This course is intended for current SIA Door Supervisor licence holders completing mandatory refresher training for licence renewal. Delegates whose licence has expired are required to undertake the full Level 2 Door Supervisor qualification instead.

    Q7. Are there any entry requirements?
    Yes. To attend this course, delegates must hold a valid SIA Door Supervisor licence, have completed their original qualification within the required timeframe, and be aged 18 or over. A valid Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work certificate and ACT Awareness and ACT Security certificates are also required. Delegates should be physically fit and confident in written and spoken English.

    Q8. What should I bring on the day? 
    Please bring valid photo ID (passport, driving licence, or UK birth certificate), two proofs of address (utility bill, bank statement, NHS or Jobcentre letter), your First Aid and ACT certificates, and suitable clothing. PPE is also required including: safety boots, hi-vis, hard hat (chin strap preferred), protective gloves, eye protection, long sleeves and trousers (shorts are not permitted).
