    Upon successful completion an ECITB Leading a Team Safely (LaTS) training course, delegates will have the skills to:

    • Influence the behaviour of those that they supervise
    • Ensure good planning and communication of health and safety related to site work
    • Help to ensure workers work on site more safely with lower risk to themselves and others

    An ECITB Leading a Team Safely (LaTS) training course includes:

    1. Strategies for working safely with others
    2. Tips for communicating successfully
    3. Leading a team effectively
    4. Guidelines for achieving safe outcomes
    5. Techniques for self-management
    6. An awareness of health and safety at work and their responsibilities for creating a safe workplace
    7. An understanding of safe solutions to problems in the workplace

    ECITB LaTS is aimed at delegates currently within a managerial position or those who have responsibility for wider teams. Delegates may have little or no prior training in health and safety or the fundamentals of leadership.

    Delegates MUST have an in-date CCNSG Passport prior to course attendance with a minimum validity of 4 months. Delegates must have the understanding and conversational use of the British language and a valid photo ID. Delegates must provide date of birth 5 days prior for registration. It is also the delegate's responsibility to notify us of any allergies prior to attendance.

    Q1. What is CCNSG? 
    The CCNSG Safety Passport is a nationally recognised health and safety qualification used across construction, engineering, industrial, power generation, oil, gas, and other related environments. It aims to support safer working by helping individuals understand site risks, responsibilities, and safe behaviours.

    Q3. Who runs CCNSG training? 
    CCNSG training is administered by the Engineering Construction Training Board (ECITB) and delivered by approved training providers across the UK, including HSS Training.

    About the Course 

    Q4. What is the CCNSG Leading a Team Safely (LaTS) course?
    This 1-day course builds on the CCNSG Safety Passport and focuses on leading people safely, not just working safely yourself. It's aimed at supporting those stepping into supervisory roles on site.

    Q5. What does the LaTS course cover? 
    Topics include planning work safely, communication, influencing behaviour, and leading teams. It's intended to bridge the gap between 'worker' and 'supervisor' from a safety perspective.

    Who Should Attend 

    Q6. Who is this course for? 
    This course is aimed at supervisors, team leaders, chargehands, and those directing work on site across engineering construction, oil & gas, power generation, and manufacturing environments.

    Q7. Are there any entry requirements?
    Yes. Delegates must hold a valid CCNSG Safety Passport with at least 4 months remaining. A good understanding of written and spoken English  is also required.

    How the Training Works 

    Q8. How is the course delivered? 
    Training takes place in a classroom setting, using discussions, practical examples, and group activities to explore real workplace scenarios.

    Q9. What should I bring on the day?
    Please bring valid photo ID and your CCNSG Safety Passport. You'll also need to provide your date of birth at least 5 days prior to the course. Some venues are located on live operational sites, so PPE may be required to access your training room. Full joining instructions will be provided after booking.

    Q10. Is lunch provided? 
    Lunch is not provided. Delegates are welcome to bring their own or use nearby facilities. Most centres have access to a kettle, microwave, and fridge.

    Q11. Is there parking available at the training centre? 
    Most of our training venues offer free on-site parking, although spaces may be limited. You’ll receive full parking details, including What3Words navigation, once your booking is confirmed. Alternatively, you can find parking availability and other venue details on our Training Centres information page

    Assessment is completed through a short multiple-choice test at the end of the course, covering the key topics discussed throughout the day.

    Successful delegates receive an ECITB Leading a Team Safely certificate, valid for 2 years.

    Q14. What's the difference between a CSCS card and the CCNSG Safety Passport?
    They apply to different sectors. The CSCS card is commonly used in general construction. The CCNSG Safety Passport is designed for engineering and industrial settings, including higher-risk sites such as power, manfacturing and process industries.
